So, we’ll go no more a-roving (итак, мы больше не пойдем бродить; to rove – [rəʋv] – скитаться; странствовать; бродить, блуждать)

So late into the night

Though the heart be still as loving

And the moon be still as bright

For the sword outwears its sheath (потому что меч протирает свои ножны; sword [sɔ:d] – меч; шпага; sheath [ʃi:θ] – ножны),

And the soul wears out the breast (а душа протирает грудь; to wear [weə] – носить /одежду/; to wear out – изнашивать: to wear out one’s shoes – износить ботинки),

And the heart must pause to breathe (и сердце должно делать паузу, чтобы дышать; pause [pɔ:z] – пауза, перерыв; остановка; to pause – делать паузу; to breathe [bri:ð] – дышать),

And love itself have rest

Though the night was made for loving (/

And the day returns too soon

Yet we’ll go no more a-roving

By the light of the moon

So, we’ll go no more a-roving

So late into the night,

Though the heart be still as loving,

And the moon be still as bright.

For the sword outwears its sheath,

And the soul wears out the breast,

And the heart must pause to breathe,

And love itself have rest.

Though the night was made for loving,

And the day returns too soon,

Yet we’ll go no more a-roving

By the light of the moon.
